Colonel Akira Igarashi is the F-35 program manager at the Acquisition, Technology and Logistics Agency (ATLA) of the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD). He is responsible for managing 105 F-35A and 42 STOVL programs, including acquisition and sustainment. In his previous assignments, Colonel Igarashi was chief of the Aircraft Sustainment Section, Maintenance and Supply Division, Logistics Department and Air Staff Office. His responsibilities included directing 9000 maintainers and 800 Japan air self-defense force aircraft. Additionally, Colonel Igarashi served as an aircraft maintenance officer, squadron commander, and chief of maintenance of the air wing. He has propelled TOC processes in the JASDF aircraft sustainment area known as PROJECT 10B.
