Tyler Black manages the research team for the Utah Department of Human Services, Division of Services for People with Disabilities (DSPD). He has worked for DSPD for twelve years conducting data analysis and policy research. His focus is on utilizing business intelligence software tools to promote data-informed decision making. Tyler also has a background in defining and tracking performance measures to monitor system quality.

Making Your Case for Funding. This workshop is for anyone interested in developing a compelling budget request for new resources. Covered topics include why ‘making the case’ is so important, how to answer the question ‘What are we buying with the requested funds?’, and how to represent critical-need requests, among other concepts. Workshop presenters will include a panel of agency experts who will offer general best practices and context-specific guidance for creating successful requests.
